make sure no wires are touching the rotor inside the distributor,if you have wires in the distributor,also,check all the wire connections to be sure they are not touching anything.

Its a bomb!!! J/K, the MSD ticks because it's a multiple discharge capacitive unit. The MSD fires multiple times before 3000rpm, after that it becomes a regular firing ignition system.

I'm a little confused here...
Why would my MSD (Multiple Spark Discharge) system operate correctly (fire 5 shots of rated coil output) below 3000 rpm, but then switch back to a standard output system when my cylinder pressures increased (when I would need its features most)...

That's what I was wondering...
It sounded to me like the MSD's abilities were eliminated after 3000 rpm (when in fact they were only diminished with MS limitations due to rpm)...
But you'd still produce a greater spark per cycle, by having saturation on each output of your MSD...

It doesn't switch modes. Its just that above 3000rpms, there is not enough time to fire more than one spark per cycle. Even an MSD can't recharge fast enough to fire multiple sparks at +3000rpms. It does fire a "stronger" spark at those higher rpms in comparison to stock ignition systems.
